I started Soda Health because I saw how the health care system was failing my own father, and I desperately wanted to change that reality for the millions of people who struggle to access the resources they need. I wanted to create a company that could reduce health inequity and address gaps in care with compassion, dignity, and respect.
Local retail can serve a powerful role on the healthcare team, meeting people in the aisles they visit every week for food and prescriptions, over-the-counter items, advice and guidance.
Local community pharmacies are the face of local health care, but aren’t a part of traditional solutions, so their outsized influence and impact is wasted. Imagine shifting an A1C test to a pharmacy, with a trusted pharmacist, where people are already visiting 13x/year. And the cost of care is actually lower.
Retail is also where people buy their groceries. The right payment platform can support a healthcare provider’s recommendations, funding the healthy foods or medically tailored meals to manage their health, and use SDOH data to make it easier to customize flexible benefits responsive to individual needs.
We saw the incredible consumer engagement driven by brands all around us, totally missing from health care. We knew that consumer-grade engagement could dramatically improve a Plan’s relationship with its members while giving people the information, attention, and nudges that could help them make smarter health care choices.
